Thyroid Issues, Adrenal Fatigue & Detox

Hypothyroidsim is frequently caused by high tissue calcium, low cellular potassium, or a combination of the two.  Potassium is needed to sensitize our cells to the effects of thyroid hormone.  In simple terms, this means without the proper balance of potassium your cells can't recognize your thyroid hormone.  But it's not as simple as taking extra potassium.   Did you know you need sufficient Iodine levels in order to retain cellular potassium?  Your probably thinking, "Ok - I'll just take potassium and iodine!"  Nope - not that simple.  If you take iodine without sufficient extra cellular sodium on board the NIS (Sodium-Iodide Symporter) transport system won't work - meaning the iodine won't be delivered to your cells.  You need iodine inside your cells to make thyroid hormone.  "Ok, Potassium, Iodine, & Sodium.  Got it!"  But sodium lowers magnesium, which causes a rise in tissue calcium and a decline in cellular potassium...Go back and reread the bold text in the first line of this paragraph!  Blindly supplementing - even when it sounds logical, can quickly cause a downward spiral!

If you are experiencing thyroid symptoms it is important to know your cellular levels of these nutrient minerals. HTMA & Frequency test – don’t guess!

Adrenal Fatigue is usually caused by some form of ongoing stress whether its physical, physiological, emotional, environmental toxins, or infections (think hidden pathogens &/or parasites). For example, undiagnosed or untreated hypothyroidism is a physiological stressor which very often results in adrenal fatigue. Since the symptoms for hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue overlap, a person might be treating one but not the other. If you are being treated for hypothyroidism but continue to experience hypo symptoms you should definitely consider the health of your adrenal glands!

In our cells, sodium and magnesium work in unison to regulate the strength of our adrenal glands. When the ratio of these two minerals becomes imbalanced it affects the ability of our adrenals to properly respond to stress.

Sodium and potassium work in a tight ratio to regulate our response to stress.  A low ratio of Sodium to Potassium is indicative of our bodies inability to properly respond to stress, and further underscore the extent of adrenal fatigue.

If you are experiencing symptoms of adrenal fatigue HTMA & FT will give you a personalized blueprint to correct the problem at the source!

Mitochondrial Dysfunction Your cells have to be energetically charged in order for your body to function properly.  Mitochondria are batteries for our cells.  They break down fatty acids and carbohydrates in order to generate energy rich molecules (ATP) that charge your cells.  Think of your cell phone battery; It generates the energy to power your phone.  Your phone is useless without a charged battery.

A few key functions of our mighty mitochondria:

  • Produce over 90% of the energy for our body
  • Cell signaling
  • Production of steroid hormones
  • Signals apoptosis (cell death)
  • Regulation of innate immunity
  • DNA repair
  • Synthesizes heme iron necessary to transport oxygen throughout the body.
  • Produce pure water for our cells
  • Stores 97% of the magnesium found in the body

You are only as healthy as your mitochondria.  Period.   As long as your pathogen/toxin load outweighs your mitochondrial load, your body will continue to build up toxins and you will remain unwell.  In o order to charge your cells you need good mineral balance.

Detox When you are dealing with Hypothyroidism / Adrenal fatigue / Mitochondrial Dysfunction your cellular metabolism is greatly reduced.  This means your ability to detox is also greatly reduced.  Unfortunately, when left untreated this quickly turns into a downward spiral.

Balanced levels of zinc, copper, sodium, potassium, magnesium are all required in order for our body to properly detox.  Toxic heavy metals, xenoestrogens, and mycotoxins further impair our ability to detox.  In addition, clear drainage pathways are also necessary in order for proper elimination of toxins.  These pathways need to be addressed before elimination is ever attempted.

If you are experiencing symptoms of impaired detoxification, such as excessive fatigue, belly bloating, gas, poor sleep, allergies, hormonal imbalances acne, itching, or yellowing of the skin, HTMA & FT can guide you to safely and effectively restore your body's ability to detox.

If you could do one test for the benefit of your health HTMA should be THE one!

"HTMA may be the most important health test that exists! Only when you and your doctor know for sure your mineral status and important ratios can you adapt your diet, minerals and supplements to work toward proper balance."    ~Dr. Robert Thompson, MD (author of "The Calcium Lie" and "The Calcium Lie 2")
